The Rising Attacks on Black Women Since the Presence of Michelle Obama | Clutch Magazine
I hadn’t really made the connection with the first lady and the increased attacks on black women, so I greatly appreciated and enjoyed this read. The only thing I didn’t like about the article, and someone may have already mentioned this, is that it (or I felt that it) unintentionally places middle class values and white notions of respectability as good, and working class values, and the lifestyles of those black people who do share one or more characteristics with the “ghetto” stereotype as bad, thus supporting white supremacy. I’m thinking of the line containing “attitudinal, hypersexual, loud, inarticulate and uncouth,” although the author may have meant for their to be more emphasis on the “misguided boxes” part which comes earlier in the sentence, and I could be reading this wrong.
